Not a Hero - Ch. 2: The Flower Shop [GiD]
Val didn't seem excited to see me when I arrived. I hoped she wasn't still mad about before.
We had arranged to meet up across the street from a suspected criminal base of operations, one that was parading itself as a dilapidated flower shop. Police reports had been going crazy about this place, but nobody could get a warrant, it seemed. Thankfully, superhero vigilantes didn't need warrants.
They did, however, need disguises. We had both arrived in our ridiculous superhero garb.
"I'm thinking we should have--"
"--worn regular clothes," Val finished my sentence for me. "Well, whatever. We can do this the hard way."
I examined the exterior of the building, looking for methods of approach that didn't involve the front door. There was a fire escape crawling up the side of the building's brickwork, leading up to a window on the second floor. I pointed. "What about that?"
"Worth a try," Val nodded.
We crossed the street and entered the narrow alleyway nex
